About Webvanta

Webvanta was founded in the fall of 2007 by Michael Slater and Christopher Haupt to create more effective systems for building web sites by taking a SaaS (software as a service) approach to the problem.

Since launching its service in 2009, Webvanta has both expanded the self-service hosted CMS and added professional services. Webvanta now offers complete site-building services for designers who want to offload the implementation work.

Michael Slater

President & CEO

Michael is cofounder of Webvanta. He's been involved with building content-rich web sites for more than 15 years. He was previously Director of Technology Strategy at Adobe Systems, which he joined when it acquired Fotiva, a venture-funded photo software startup he cofounded. Prior to Fotiva, he created and ran the Microprocessor Report newsletter and the Microprocessor Forum conference. Long ago he was a hardware engineer and assembly-language programmer. Christopher Haupt

Chief Technology Officer

Christopher is cofounder of Webvanta. With more than 20 years of Internet-related software experience, he leads Webvanta's architecture, engineering, and web operations. In his 10 years with Adobe Systems he was Director of Engineering for Consumer Hosted Applications and Online Services, and he held engineering management roles for Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, and PhotoDeluxe. Prior to Adobe, Christopher was a co-founder or lead engineer at a number of start-ups focused on educational and game software. Follow his technical musing on Twitter at @chaupt.

Andrew DesChenes

Director of Services

Andrew manages Webvanta's technical support programs, which include our support and helpdesk sites; chat, email, and phone support; and custom setup services. Andrew has more than a decade of experience in software development, web development, and IT, with experience at Michigan State University, Motorola, Computer Sciences Corp., and as an independent web developer.

Justin Borton

Account Manager

Justin is Webvanta's Account Manager. Justin has 15 years of experience in account management, providing technology solutions to Fortune 500 companies and Government Agencies as well as mom-and-pop shops across the country. He sincerely enjoys working with people, problem solving, and providing real-value business solutions. When Justin is not working with clients you will probably find him online gaming or gardening with his children, dogs, cats and chickens.

Lisa Irwin

Web Developer

Lisa is a front-end web developer for Webvanta. Her technical and artistic talents are evidenced by her experience as a programmer, quality engineer, fine artist and mathematics teacher. She has a computer engineering degree from UC Davis and studied at the Academy of Art College in San Francisco. Lisa enjoys combining her skills in web development, and working with clients to transform their vision into reality.

David Hehman

David Hehman is an entrepreneur and angel investor who focuses on Internet-based businesses. He has co-founded and sold 5 technology businesses: HealthDesk, GetawayZone, MarketHome, EscapeHomes, and Pagewise.com. He is the cofounder of Spartina Ventures, LLC, an angel fund for Internet start-ups.

Greg Seal

Greg Seal spent 30 years with Deloitte Consuting. He worked with clients in manufacturing, high technology and consumer products to improve their operations and profitability. Over the course of his career he built and led several global and national practices for Deloitte.
